TECHNOLOGICAL NOTES
D.S.S. kilns (double shaft square) are double shaft type, with rectangular cross section and exhaust gases circulation in equicurrent.
The fuel injection happens by two set of lances that plunge from the kiln top into the limestone.
The combustion takes place at alternate cycles in the two shafts.
The particular favorable conditions of heat exchange between the combustion exhaust gases and the limestone in decarbonation inside the shaft allow to obtain a very low fuel consumption and a high reactivity of the produced lime.
WINNING FACTORS
- Low fuel consumption
- Great steadiness of production
- High reactivity lime
- Low value of L.O.I.
- Middle high lime production
- Possibility of different fuels use
